Feasibility and Master Planning

Master planning is an important service that we offer our clients. It is the initial phase in any architectural design process.

The planning process involves examining the style and design of the structure, including surrounding infrastructures, and local government building requirements, among other standards. Master planning is all about making connections between social settings, buildings and surrounding environments.

Here at Waitākere Architects and Project Managers, we specialise in master planning for schools. Our specialist team of architects and project managers will be with you throughout the entire process, from start to finish. The master planning service for education sectors will provide a long-term planning document that is given to the school site that mirrors an exact notion of what the whole process will involve. From planning and designing to project management, we are highly dedicated to making your education space the best that it can be.

Firstly, for every education sector that we work with we provide them with a project brief. This is a vitally important document that will guide the design and development of the school. The project brief is where every idea has been put together as one that translates the space into what the finished project will look like. In doing so, it allows the school to envision their future and realise the potential of what could happen. There will be two parts to this brief:

  • An education brief: A brief led by the school and includes the school’s specific standards for their design. Usually would take into account the school’s cultural history.
  • A technical brief: This is a brief that includes school-specific technical policies for our design team to follow and take into consideration before creating their work.

If you would like to discuss your potential project and see how we can assist you, contact our professional and friendly team today. We’d be happy to help you with any project and any questions that you may have.

Architecture and Design

The architectural process involves breaking down the project into manageable stages, adding additional levels of detail.

It is a discipline that focuses As there are multiple stages during this process, it can be a timely one. When working with us, we would put the most effort into your project, making sure that every design is perfect and up to your expectations. We don’t like to keep our clients waiting on their project designs.
What does the architectural process involve? As mentioned before, there are different stages within the design stage of the architectural process. The steps are as followed:

  • Predesign: The architect will gather as much information as possible and get your site surveyed to figure out any potential issues
  • Concept: This is a range of solutions to the brief (master planning and predesign). These may include drawings, floor plants, computer renderings or physical models of your design(s).
  • Developed: Once the concept has been agreed upon, our architects will test the ideas and refine further details that shape the final design. This will additionally include a potential estimated cost of your project.
  • Detailed: Your project will progress further to the detailed design phase once resource consent has been approved. We will assist you and are happy to answer any questions you might have about consent forms. This stage will include finalising information such as construction details, materials that will be used, components to your project, systems that will be in place and any final touches.

Our lead designers are an important part of the design process for your project. They are responsible for overseeing the process outlined above and for leading the rest of the team. Our architect designers have had many years of experience working and creating designs for ECE (Early Childhood Education) centres, Healthcare buildings, educational institutions like schools and have worked for commercial developers too.
