Waitakere Architects & Project Managers have been providing Master planning Services, 10-year plan preparation and Professional Architect Services including of the Principal Consultant Lead Designer roles to Sunnyvale Primary School for more than 15 years. Subsequent to Roll growth works by others, Block 2 was left designated as Library and a resource room. The block was the original standard classroom block aged slightly over 50 years old. Apart from regular maintenance the building was as it was when built.

The schools brief was to upgrade the two classrooms and the toilets were to be removed as redundant and used as a resource store and breakout space. The space was designated as the school enquiry hub and included for a modernised library based around periodicals and newspaper along with entertainment novel. Information data bases and access to the internet / intranet carried the non-fiction information.

The second space was opened up to like both however doors were installed for separate activities to be able to take place when necessary. This space is used for students to paint draw, manufacture and experiment to add to the information that they were accessing all project related. There was some late adjustment the 5ya funding (by others) that saw the project scope scaled back considerable with the associated management of changing expectations skills tested.
